Jump to Recipe

If you have to bring something to your family and you don’t want to spend a lot of money or put a lot of thought into it, we got you. This is our lazy girl breakfast wreath. ๐Ÿฉ We saw this at a party and HAD TO DO IT. It’s one of those cute yet easy recipes!

It’s a foam wreath wrapped in plastic wrap, covered in powdered mini donuts and donut holes on toothpicks, with a few cranberries and rosemary tucked in. No baking. We got our donut holes from the local bakery, because we’re not making those. That’s how lazy this is, and no shame in it okay.

What You Need for a Donut Wreath

  • A small foam wreath. I picked ours up at Hobby Lobby. Shop a 12 inch foam wreath set
  • Plastic wrap, so the donuts never touch the foam.
  • Toothpicks.
  • 3 dozen donut holes. Ours came from the local bakery. Shop Entenmann’s Pop’ems if you’d rather grab a box.
  • The sharing box of powdered mini donuts. Shop the powdered donuts
  • Cranberries, just a few, and not frozen.
  • Rosemary, the thing that looks like Christmas tree pine needles. Shop the rosemary sprigs
  • Powdered sugar on top, optional but cute.
  • A cutting board to set it on.

Real talk about the rosemary: we could not find it anywhere. We had to buy an entire turkey brine kit just to get a few sprigs to make it look right. Learn from us and grab some ahead of time while it is still in stock!

How to Make a Christmas Donut Wreath

Step 1: Wrap the wreath

Wrap your foam wreath all the way around with plastic wrap. That way nothing you eat touches the foam.

Wrap it all the way around

Step 2: Toothpicks in, donut holes on

Get your toothpicks out and poke them into the top and sides of the wreath. Then you literally just start putting the donut holes on.

Step 3: Add the powdered donuts

Press the powdered mini donuts on in between, switching back and forth with the donut holes as you go around.

Step 4: Tuck in the cranberries and rosemary

Fill the gaps with little sprigs of rosemary and a few cranberries. Set a cranberry right in the hole of some of the powdered donuts. So cute.

Step 5: Set it on a cutting board

Dust it with powdered sugar if you want, and set it on a cutting board. It’s cute in the middle of the table.

Tips for Your Donut Wreath

  1. Wrap it first. The plastic wrap keeps the foam off your breakfast.
  2. Bakery or boxed. Bakery donut holes, a box from the store, whatever’s easiest.
  3. Switch it up. Going back and forth between powdered donuts and donut holes is what makes it look like a wreath.
  4. Chocolate works too. Hannah likes a chocolate one, so swap some in.
  5. Make it the morning of. Build it the day you serve it so the donuts stay soft.
  6. Watch the little ones. Toothpicks, whole cranberries and rosemary sprigs aren’t for babies and toddlers to grab. Pull a donut off for them.

Next time, I definitely think we are going to over fill it a little more for a party, but truthfully, I can eat the whole thing if I leave it sitting on my table!
